Introduced by Glock in 1988 for military and law enforcement, the Glock 19 is a scaled down version of the popular Glock 17. Chambered for the 9mm, the 19 featured a barrel that is half an inch shorter than the 17 model. The Glock 19 comes with a smaller 15 round magazine.
So that parts and magazines would be somewhat interchangeable, the Glock 19 slide width and frame size are the same as the 17 model.
Although the Glock 17 has been around longer, the Glock 19 series is close to becoming as popular as the 17 series.
